Good Vibes: Kendrick Lamar- " Sing about me"

Lately, I've been vibing out to Kendrick Lamar's album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City, which is kind of unusual for me. In general I don't listen to too many rappers but Kendrick is pretty dope. He talks about real life situations, and he's very relatable to me. He's also very poetic. In this era of hip hop, I feel like rapping about money, sex, women, and cars is the default. every one does it because they feel like thats what they have to do. They're afraid to put some emotion into their works, so instead they sell us a dream that even they don't really have. Kendrick...he's real.

One of my favorites at the moment is a song he did called " Sing about Me." It's based off of a real life experience. I love how raw it is and I love that he raps from three different perspectives...The Gun Shots give me chills every time I listen to it. Listen below.

Princess Rih has spoken

 Rihanna finally opens up about her relationship with Christopher Brown in the newest issue of Rolling Stone, out on news stands January 31, 2013.

The Round Up

So I haven't updated in weeks...I know...unacceptable. however, I've recently just started back up in school and things have been kind of hectic. So with out further delay here are a few things that have been happening in Pop Culture.

1.) Karrueche for The Kill

Since her messy break up with Chris Brown, Karrueche Tran has been on the move promoting her new clothing line The Kill, and I have to say I am quite proud of her. Despite how stupid all this mess is between herself, Christopher, and Robyn, she has been demonstrating a commendable level of maturity. I respect that. From what I know, there is no exact date for the lines' release, Tran promises that it is coming soon!

Karrueche also had a little sit down with one of my favorite people, Shekinah (T.I. & Tiny: A Family Hustle), and she talked about her relationship with Chris. You see that interview HERE.

2.) Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce

Beyonce has been creating a lot of buzz lately. She has been in the news every where, but I guess that is to be expected since she's preparing to get back out in the lime light. The turn up for Bey in 2013 is going to be too real! she has a new album coming, the Super Bowl, she was at the inauguration, her spicy GQ cover, and semi- reunion with Destiny's Child. The Beyhive isn't going to know what to do with themselves. I'm not mad at her though. Get your coins girl! 

3.)Ciara and Future...who knew?

Apparently, Ciara and Future are dating. Their romance is so unexpected, but I guess they make each other happy, and that's all that really matters. Good for them.

4.) Crazy and Deranged 

Recently a girl by the name of Giovanna Plowman went viral all over the internet. What was she doing, you ask? Sucking on a used tampon! I have never been so disgusted in my life. Like...why would she do that?! are people really this attention deprived? Shaking my head.

One Republic: Feel Again

I am currently in love with this song! In general I'm not a huge One Republic fan, but this song does something to me when I hear it. It's so uplifting and hopeful. It kind of reminds me of church because the instrumentation and background vocals are reminiscent of a church choir. Watch the music video below. Enjoy!

Santigold: Disparate Youth

"Disparate Youth" is the lead single from Santigold's second album, Master Of My Make Believe, and it is one of my favorite songs on the entire album. Now, while I don't understand this music video at all,  I still appreciate Santigold for  it. And I decided to post it here. Watch below, and make of it what you will.

Artist to watch for: Anhayla

Hello! All last week I had finals for school, but I am happy to say that I have conquered them all. I am so glad to be done with them. Now I can focus on Christmas break and on relaxing with all of my family, and of course updating my blog as much as I can. For today's post I wanted to show an up and coming artist by the name of Anhayla. I have been following her on youtube for over a year now, and she definitely has some major talent! Recently she posted a video of her and her friend, Tsoul, doing a rendition of Rihanna and Chris Brown's song "Nobody's Business." Check it out down below and enjoy!

Awesomeness with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots!

Jimmy Fallon and his house band, The Roots, have been doing these cool little acoustic sessions with different music artists that come on to their show. These sessions are unique because they don't use traditional instruments. Instead, they use everyday office supplies, toys, and other random tools to produce the sounds of the songs that they sing. So far they have done a session with Christina Aguilera, Carly Rae Jepsen, and most recently the legendary Mariah Carey. Check them out down below!

Jacob Latimore: This Is Me

Yesterday at 7PM Jacob Latimore released his mixtape, This Is Me, and I haven't stopped listening to it yet. It has been on constant repeat since I downloaded it. This is honestly a really great mixtape. It almost sounds like an actual album, and I am really impressed. It's straight R&B and every song is good. This is something that you can just put on and let it play. Like...I think I'm a Jacob Jewel now. Much Respect to you Jacob!

The Weekly Round-Up

So, I've decided to start doing this thing that I like to call "The weekly round-up" where I talk about some of the things that are occurring in the wonderful world of  entertainment and pop culture. So many things happen and it's hard to keep up with them all sometimes. So, here are a few if you missed them.

1.) Jelena is over...I think?!

Thousands of Beliebers rejoiced at the discovery that Justin Bieber and his girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend) , Selena Gomez split up. They finally get to have their "man" back...or do they? There is still speculation that the two might be reconciling, but no one knows for sure. Personally, I think that the both of them are so young. Why are they in such a rush to be held down?! Go live a little! Plus, there is also talk that the biebs proposed to Selena? really? I'm not sure if that's true, but if it is...honey, I don't know about anyone else, but at 18 and 20 years old I'm not trying to be anyone's husband, or wife! I guess we will just have to see how this pans out.

2.) Queen Mother Bey on IG

Beyonce has decided to grace us all with her presence on the social networking site Instagram. If you are not following her already, please get your life and do so. Her instagram name is @BaddieBey.

3.) Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2

On November 16, 2012 the final installment of the Twilight Saga hit the theaters, and thousands of Twilight fans all over the nation went out to bid goodbye to the immortal characters whom they had grown to love. I too made my way to the theater, and I must say, this movie was worth every penny! It gave me fear, it gave me sadness, it gave me joy...It was EVERYTHING. So if you have yet to see it, I encourage you to go now.

4.) Princess Rih is Unapologetic

Rihanna just released her seventh studio album entitled "Unapologetic" and I am actually really impressed. I think this album shows a lot of growth lyrically and vocally for Rihanna, and I also feel like there is a new level of realness that she is showing. Also occurring right now, is Rih's 777 tour. Apparently, Rihanna and 150 journalist all got on a plane together for the promotional tour, and there was all kinds of mayhem because Rih wouldn't give them any dirt. However, did apologize for the lack of information dished out. She even said that she would do it again.

5.) "Cake like Lady Gaga"

Awhile back Lady Gaga released a rap song entitled "Cake", and while majority of us thought it was a joke, Gaga is taking it more seriously it seems. She made a music video for it and has released two teasers for it which you can see here. I know a lot of people are probably like " really Gaga?" , but I am completely here for this. I think its hilarious.
