Princess Rih has spoken

Rihanna finally opens up about her relationship with Christopher Brown in the newest issue of Rolling Stone, out on news stands January 31, 2013.

"I decided it was more important for me to be happy. I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that. Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it." - Rihanna to Rolling Stone

Welp...there we have it. We can go on with our lives now.

New to Twitter!

I joined twitter yesterday! Follow me at @HoneyBeeRave!

My current favorite live performances: Solange "Locked in Closets" and "Vocal Vibes"

"Locked in Closets"

I love this song, and I love everything about this performance. It's so funky and soulful. I love that Solo just kind of goes with the flow and jams. Also, take note that she is fully clothed, but still sexy as ever! This is proof that you don't have to take all your clothes off to be sensual. This is a vintage kind of sexy.

Justin Timberlake: "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z

Justin Timberlake just released the music video for his new song "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z. I really like this song and the music video is really nice too. Check it out below!

The Round Up

So I haven't updated in weeks...I know...unacceptable. however, I've recently just started back up in school and things have been kind of hectic. So with out further delay here are a few things that have been happening in Pop Culture.

1.) Karrueche for The Kill

Since her messy break up with Chris Brown, Karrueche Tran has been on the move promoting her new clothing line The Kill, and I have to say I am quite proud of her. Despite how stupid all this mess is between herself, Christopher, and Robyn, she has been demonstrating a commendable level of maturity. I respect that. From what I know, there is no exact date for the lines' release, Tran promises that it is coming soon!
Karrueche also had a little sit down with one of my favorite people, Shekinah (T.I. & Tiny: A Family Hustle), and she talked about her relationship with Chris. You see that interview HERE.

2.) Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce

Beyonce has been creating a lot of buzz lately. She has been in the news every where, but I guess that is to be expected since she's preparing to get back out in the lime light. The turn up for Bey in 2013 is going to be too real! she has a new album coming, the Super Bowl, she was at the inauguration, her spicy GQ cover, and semi- reunion with Destiny's Child. The Beyhive isn't going to know what to do with themselves. I'm not mad at her though. Get your coins girl!

3.)Ciara and Future...who knew?

Apparently, Ciara and Future are dating. Their romance is so unexpected, but I guess they make each other happy, and that's all that really matters. Good for them.

4.) Crazy and Deranged

Recently a girl by the name of Giovanna Plowman went viral all over the internet. What was she doing, you ask? Sucking on a used tampon! I have never been so disgusted in my life. Like...why would she do that?! are people really this attention deprived? Shaking my head.

well this is it for today.

One Republic: Feel Again

I am currently in love with this song! In general I'm not a huge One Republic fan, but this song does something to me when I hear it. It's so uplifting and hopeful. It kind of reminds me of church because the instrumentation and background vocals are reminiscent of a church choir. Watch the music video below. Enjoy!

Beauty Tip: Vaseline

This tip that I have for you guys today is a little unconventional, and I almost feel kind of ridiculous postingabout it. However, I do think that it could be helpful to any of you who like to wear eye make-up.
A couple years ago I really got into wearing liquid eyeliner, but it would drive me crazy whenever I had to try and take it off because it was hard to remove. Then, my stepmother told me that if I used a little bit of vaseline on a Q-tip and gently rubbed it along my eyelid, it would come right off. So I tried it, and sure enough, it worked! I have been using this method ever since, and I love it because vaseline is so inexpensive and easy to find everywhere. So if you are one of those people who buy expensive eye make up remover to take off your eyeliner, or mascara… I encourage you to try this instead. It will save you so much money, and moisturize your skin ^_^

D.I.Y: High-Waisted Shorts

I’ve always wanted to create a pair of high-waisted shorts, but up until recently, I never really knew the proper technique to use. Luckily, one of my good friends is a D.I.Y. guru, and she told me how to make them.
The first thing I decided to do was hit up a local thrift store near my house and get a pair of men’s denim jeans. I opted for men’s jeans instead of “mom” jeans because it was the easiest way (for me) to insure that the pants I bought would be high-waisted. Once I had my jeans, I put them on and decided how short I wanted to cut them. Initially, I made them a little long because I didn’t want to cut them too short and completely ruin them. Then, after the first cut, I tried the shorts on and made adjustments to them until they fit how I wanted them to.
I’ve been thinking about studding them, or maybe distressing them, but I’m not sure yet. Ultimately, I’m really happy with my results, and Im so excited that I have my first pair of high-waisted shorts!

Top Three Thrifting Tips!

Thrifting is one of my favorite ways to shop, and I love it because I am able to find unique and fashionable clothing for a very cheap price. However, even though I love it,  I was NOT always as good at thrifting as I am now. When I first started I would get frustrated because I couldn’t find anything, and I would get irritated because nothing was really organized, and eventually I would just walk out of the store in a cloud of sadness. Then, as I did it more I began to get better, and I discovered some tips that were very helpful in my quest to find good pieces of clothes.
  1. Location is Everything. When choosing a thrift store to go to, remember that that the quality of the clothing is often determined by the location of the thrift store. I wouldn’t go into a sketchy looking thrift store and expect too find a whole lot in it (although there are exceptions sometimes).
  2. Check every rack. It may seem tedious, but some of the best treasures are hidden. Nothing in a thrift store is really organized, and more than likely, there is only one of everything. So, it is imperative that you check every rack of clothes because there could be something really cool there.
  3. Have an open mind. Try to see the clothes for their possibilities and not just their appearance on the rack at that moment. Part of wearing clothes is adding your own swag and style to them. Most of the clothes that I’ve purchased at thrift stores have all been altered in some way to fit my personal style.
So, those are my top three tips for thriting, and I hope they were helpful. Now go spread some love around somewhere! ^_^
